Acquisition reinforces company’s leadership in the boat protection products category

OGDEN, Utah — Megaware Keelguard, Inc., a leading manufacturer of boat protection products in the U.S., announced today the completion of the company’s purchase of keel protector manufacturer Hamby’s Protector, Inc.

The purchase makes Megaware Keelguard the largest manufacturer of keel protection products in the world. Megaware KeelGuard is the first manufacturer to offer a do-it-yourself keel guard protection system. Hamby’s Protector pioneered the first keel protector in 1988, which is available through OEMs or as a dealer-installed option.

According to David Shumway, President of Megaware Keelguard, the two companies will continue to operate independently, but share strategic objectives that will allow the group to expand its business development plans and better serve the needs of its customers. Roger Sutterfield will continue to manage Hamby’s day-to-day operations as the company’s Director of Sales.

The Joni & Friends Charity Pro-Staff is currently scheduled to compete in various FLW circuits including the Stren Series, Texas Tournament Trail and BFL and to execute a "Fishing with Friends" wish grants before many of these tournaments as well as at selected Joni & Friends Family Camps and various other related venues where a disabled individual will have the opportunity to spend the day fishing with a Joni & Friends pro!
